Today Dora was born at 7:24 AM. She is a healthy baby. Her mother is fine too. Dora is 7.1 lbs (3.2 kg) heavy and 20.5 in (52 cm) tall. She has brown eyes and black hair. We are so happy to have her! Click here to see pictures.
We met Ben today in Portland, a childhood friend from my hometown.
It is thanksgiving! We are heading out to uncle Joe's place to have dinner with the rest of the folks.
The baby shower was a great success! Alicia and I would like to thank all of our friends and family who were not only there in person but in spirit as well. Now, it’s just a matter of time before Doruntina makes her appearance!

Alicia’s parents, Dori and Dan, are throwing us a baby shower at the house of Alicia’s boss on the 14th of November. By then Dora’s entrance into the world will be a mere month away, and we will be eagerly awaiting the day.

It is a girl! We would like to introduce to the world Doruntina Elizabeth Juniku.
The two of us spent the day at the Oregon Zoo in Portland. We encountered many impresive species such as lions, lionesses, Malayan Sun Bear, and several kinds of primates. Unfortunately, there were not so many snakes on display, much to my chagrin. Click to see pictures.
Today, with the help of our midwife Lisa using a gadget called a "doppler", Alicia & I were able to hear the heart beat of our baby. It sounded like a submarine giving off a signal.
Alicia and I spent the weekend camping at the Willamette National Forest. Who said pregnant women couldn't camp?
Alicia and I spent the day in the fabulous city of Portland. Things we did: Visit the Japanese Gardens, lunch with Grandma Jan, walked along the Water Front Village, and then had dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery with my mom, my mother-in-law Dori and my brother-in-law Tony. Then we spent night at Hotel Monaco....quite swanky! In the morning we took my mother to the airport, as it was time for her to return to Kosovo.
Alicia, my mother, and I spent the day touring the beautiful state of Oregon. We hiked up Multnomah Falls, and had lunch at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood. A fantastic day!
A new family is established in our midst. Alicia and I are now officially, and happily, married to each other. We are thankful to all our family members, friends, photographer (Brielle McClain), and the officiator and host (Mr. Dale Donovan) who helped the event take place smoothly. Alicia and I went to Margie's house today to prepare TONS of salsa for the wedding! Afterwards, Margie was kind enough to cook us a scrumptious dinner. Thanks Margie!
My mother made us Kosovo crepes last night. It was such a treat since It had been quite a awhile since I had crepes made by my mother. The three of us are going for dinner at Grandmother Jan's later tonight.
My mother came to pay us a visit, all the way Kosovo! She is going to stay with us for 3 weeks.
It is my birthday. I am 36 years old but feels as if I am 16. Happy birthday old chap! She baked a one candle, served for two, three layer chocolate cake.
My mother has successufully obtained a U.S.A. visa for her up-coming visit!
Today Alicia and I met our midwife, Lisa Lehrer. She is going to assist us with the home birth of our first child. We talked mainly about diet and the health plan options. We are expecting our baby to be born some time around the 24th December, 2010. Alicia and I are THRILLED!

Today Alicia and I had our engagement photoshoot with Brielle McClain of Brielle McClain Photography. The three of us walked around NW Portland, taking pictures in whatever situation fancied us. We paid a visit to Powell’s Book Store (otherwise known as the center of the universe) and to Vista House outside of Portland. Last but not least, Brielle took some photos of us on the Willamette River while the tide was out.
Alicia and I just came back from San Francisco, California. That was quite a memorable experience! I delivered a talk at the 239th American Chemical Society Spring National Meeting. Five days were simply not enough to see everything in "City By the Bay".
Alicia is going to spens five long days in the HJ Andrews Forest, and I am going to miss her. She is taking Philosophy 511 this term, which includes a week in the forest discussing environmental philosophy and ethics.
My research group is going to San Francisco (March 21st - 25th), and Alicia is going to come along! I will be giving a talk at the American Chemical Society meeting on March 21st at 11:00 am.
We bought my mother a plane ticket from Kosovo so whe will be able to come to our wedding! She will arrive in Oregon on May 13th.
We have set the date for our marriage! We will get married on May the 30th, 2010. The event will short, small and simple.....just the way it ought to be! The ceremony will take place in Corvallis at Donovan's Tree Farm, which is on the border of Corvallis and Philomath.
Alicia bought me a wedding ring! It is silver and is embelished with acrons and oak leaves. She really fancies oak. It represents family, bonding and longevity, and of course, my head is made of it. Click here to see it.

Finally, I asked her to marry me. In America, this means engagement. The marriage will take place sometime soon. My mom will probably be here too. I feel good but nobody can tell.
She is 5.11 feet tall (yes, way taller then myself). Big starring blue eyes and golden brown hair. Very creative, intellectual and witty. A dancer, notably lyricle. Likes cats, beer, very careful about food she consumes. Speaks two languages. Very family oriented. Likes poetry. Worries about environment. 99 % American and somewhat hippie (~ 0.06. %). Cooks great. Loves organic food and organic chemists. Her name is Alicia.
